Montreal Taco Fest!

My kids LOVE tacos! Fish tacos, meat tacos, cheeese tacos, we love them all! For the past few years we have loved eating at Quesada where my kids can ‘make’ their own taco, quesadillas and burritos. The fact that they have ‘Beyond Meat’ as an option is great for my vegeterian daughter.

Now I find out there is an entire event celebrating Tacos! Well it’s actually celebrating Mexican cuisine, but El Mercado Del Taco means Montreal Taco Fest to us!

About the Festival

The Mercado del Taco Festival focuses on celebrating authentic Mexican food and introducing the culture to the Montreal foodie scene. Taquerias from across Montreal gather and compete in the Best Taco of the Year competition.

In September 2018, the first ever edition of the Mercado del Taco was launched. Wrestlers from Mexico, professional called ‘Luchadores‘ faced Montreal’s own wrestlers and taquerias dished up their Mexican specialties. Artists showcased their work and dj’s entertained the 2,500 people who attended.

Last year Mi Ranchito was the 2018 winner of ‘Best Taco of the Year‘, as voted by the attendees. However, if you want to check out the authentic Mexican restaurant Mi Ranchito before the fest, visit them on Belanger Street. Wonder if they will be the 2019 winner too?

2019 details

The Montreal Taco Fest will be taking place September 8th, 2019 at Ambroise Et Espace Canal – 4020 St-Ambroise Street.

Check out their website, Instagram and Facebook page for more details.
