Montréal en Lumière

Montreal en Lumiere

Montreal is the ultimate festival and adventure city. And Montrealers LOVE to be outside in winter. So it makes sense they have the popular Montréal en Lumière happening February 20- March 1, 2020.  Returning for it’s 21st year, Montréal en Lumière will bring light to the darkness. Promising to be bigger than ever, the festival offers dozens or activities and gourmet food for tourists and locals.

Why should you bundle up & get out to check out Montréal en Lumière?

Most activities are free!

Most festival activities are taking part outside in downtown Montreal at Places des Festivals and Complexe Desjardins. But Montrealers can find things to do and eat all over the city. Most sites are open 5-11 p.m. and it’s a great excuse to let the kids stay up a bit later. Check out the schedules here.

Montréal en Lumière culminates in Nuit Blanche, when many of these activities run all night long!

There will be amazing food

There are too many restaurants, outdoor sites and gourment corners to mention. All we can say is you will want to check out the whole program on their site for gastronomy, the outdoor site and nuit blanche. Make sure to visit a few places!

As most of Quebec gears up for Caban a sucre (‘Sugar Shack’) and Maple season, you can get a head start and re-discover maple syrup and take part in a tasting game, grab a bite or ride the giant ‘Maple of Quebec’ Ferris Wheel. Ferris Wheel hours as same as the giant slide listed below. Don’t miss out on seeing the amazing views of Montreal from the Ferris Wheel.

Nuit Gourmande

This is a great opportunity to discovery why Montreal is known as a gourmet city. Get out and try gourmet delights at select merchants.

Culinary Tours

Throughout the week long event there are culinary tours hosted by various entities like Tastet within the Montréal en Lumière, quartier Gournamnd. In the quartier Gourmand you can find Quebec products and flavors as well as international cuisine.

La Nuit Blanche

The grand finale to the festival, Nuit Blanche. With over 200 activities offered, Montréal en Lumière offers 6 different custom-made circuits to help you plan your evening. Choose from one of six circuits that meets your interests.

  • One Night to Dazzle which focuses on films & exhibitions.
  • A Green Night with green in every shape and every shade.
  • A Story Night paved with words, poetry, comedy and anecdotes.
  • A Night of Interactive Creativity offering an opportunity to craft and admire inspiring projects of local artisans.

Check out the schedule for all the activties for Nuit Blanche.
